Haveli's of Lahore , Screen Printed, Embroidered Tapestry

The Amrit Dhara Building on Lahore’s Railway Road is a striking pre-Partition monument to early South Asian pharmaceutical enterprise. Inaugurated in May 1914 by Deputy Commissioner F. W. Kennaway, it served as the bustling factory, clinic, and headquarters for Pandit Thakur Datta Sharma’s miracle herbal elixir, Amritdhara.

Following the 1947 Partition, Sharma’s family migrated to India. Today, while the ground floor buzzes with hardware and auto shops, its weathered facade stands as an enduring relic of Lahore’s shared commercial heritage.

This beautiful Lahore Haveli tapestry combines traditional screen printing on fabric with hand embroidery and pitta work.

Pitta work is a traditional South Asian embroidery technique where stitched metallic zari or badla threads are meticulously hammered flat using a smooth wooden mallet. Derived from peetna (to beat), this process embeds the metal flush into the fabric, yielding a snag-free, durable, and lustrous sheet-like sheen.

A piece full of life, culture and craftsmanship. Inspired by the historic havelis of Lahore, the design captures the charm of old architecture. Perfect for wall displays, it brings warmth, beauty and inspiration to any space. It celebrates the skill of artisans and keeps traditional Pakistani craftsmanship alive.
