Aleppo Soap

Legend holds that more than 2,000 years ago, women in Aleppo discovered that combining olive oil with wild plants could create an effective cleansing soap, beginning a tradition passed down through generations.

Before the Syrian war, around 100 soap factories and workshops operated in the region. Years of conflict, displacement and disrupted supply chains devastated the industry, with some historic family workshops damaged or forced to close. By 2024, some accounts reported only around 15 remaining.

Our soap is directly sourced from Aleppo, Syria, supporting makers who continue this ancient craft. By bringing their soap to new markets, we help sustain livelihoods, preserve traditional production and keep this remarkable Syrian heritage alive.
