We celebrate the endangered art of Egyptian khayamiya through master tentmaker Hany, a third-generation artisan from Cairo’s historic Street of the Tentmakers (Sharia Khayamiya). His meticulous hand-appliquéd textile panels celebrating geometric arabesques and floral calligraphy are honored with permanent acquisition and display at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A).
This Khayamiya appliqué wall art features Surah Al-Ikhlas in Kufic font, hand-stitched onto a beautiful background fabric in a bold geometric design. It makes a meaningful addition to any home.
Every letter is cut and sewn entirely by hand by Egypt's Tentmakers artisans on Cairo's historic "Khayamiya Street" who have kept this traditional craft alive for generations, hand-stitching intricate patterns the way their ancestors once decorated desert tents.
This beautiful tradition is fading owning a piece helps keep it alive.
